London is Lonely Audio Stories
London is Lonely is a powerful, immersive art experience that emerged as part of the Loneliness Lab in 2018.
Devised by Collectively and artists Tessa Blencowe and Irene Palacio, the project includes first-person audio stories of real people who have experienced loneliness, alongside powerful photography portraits.
The project helps to show how diverse the human experience of loneliness is, one that affects so many of us in different ways, and helps to expand the conversation beyond the usual stereotypes.
The audio stories are a powerful workshop tool to start conversations and build empathy about loneliness.
As part of your workshop, we recommend playing the audio files and then inviting participants to share their reflections and own experiences of loneliness.
Please note these stories are powerful and moving, so it can be helpful to give people a trigger warning on the themes within them and to offer up a supportive ear to anyone who might be affected after the sessions.
