9 million of us are lonely
It’s time we changed that

Urban loneliness is growing rapidly around the world. Loneliness can be as bad for our health as smoking, and places a huge strain on the economy and society, as well as individual mental health.

The solution lies beyond simply asking people to be better neighbours. We need to look at the structural drivers that make our cities such lonely places.
